SMS website monitoring: a text when it breaks, a text when it's back
PingStuff's SMS alerts are live for Canadian mobile numbers. Verify your phone once, and an outage text reaches you wherever you are — with a plain-English explanation, not a status code.
Being honest up front: texts are live today for Canadian mobile numbers only. We send from a Canadian number, and US carrier registration isn't finished — so if your mobile is outside Canada, you will get every alert by email instead, and we will not pretend otherwise. Email alerts and SSL expiry reminders are live for everyone, on every plan.
You don't watch dashboards at 2am
Nobody does. A status dashboard only helps if someone is looking at it, and email is where alerts go to wait politely until morning — filed between a newsletter and a receipt. If your website goes down on a Saturday night, the outage does not care that you are at dinner.
A text message is different. It buzzes in your pocket instead of waiting in an inbox. For a “your website is down” message, minutes are exactly what matter: every one of them is a visitor hitting an error page. That is why SMS is PingStuff's alert channel — live today for Canadian mobiles, and honestly labelled everywhere it is not.
What PingStuff's texts actually say
These are the real templates, straight from the product — the exact words a verified Canadian mobile receives:
Outage text
PingStuff: My Store (mystore.com) appears to be down. We'll text you when it recovers. Reply STOP to opt out.
Recovery text
PingStuff: My Store is back online. Total downtime: 14 minutes.
- An outage text and a recovery text. One message when your website goes down, one when it comes back — with the total downtime, so you know the incident is closed without opening a laptop.
- Plain English, even at 160 characters. The text says which site broke and that you will hear when it recovers. The full explanation — what failed and what to do — lives in the matching email and incident report.
- Verified numbers only. Alert texts only ever go to a phone number you have confirmed with a verification code. Nobody can point our texts at a number they do not control.
- STOP always works. Reply STOP to any message and texts stop instantly — no settings page hunt, no grace period. Reply START if you change your mind.
- Alerts only, never marketing. Agreeing to outage texts is not agreeing to promotions. Your number is used for alerts you asked for, full stop.
What you get today
Both channels are live right now: PingStuff watches your website continuously, re-checks every failure before alerting, and emails you a plain-English explanation when something is genuinely wrong — plus a recovery message when it is over. Verified Canadian mobiles get the same alerts as a text.
SMS alerts are included in the Monitor and Agency plans (see pricing). Verify a Canadian mobile number once and texts start with your next incident. Reply STOP to any message and that number stops receiving every PingStuff alert, immediately.
