Trial & Billing Terms

How the free check, the 30-day trial, per-site and flat agency pricing, payments, cancellation and refunds work.

Status: draft for legal review · Last updated 2 August 2026

1. The short version

The instant health check is free and needs no account. Paid plans start with a 30-day full-featured trial that requires no payment method — and when the trial ends, nothing is charged automatically, because we never had your card in the first place. You only ever pay if you actively subscribe through Stripe Checkout. If you don’t, your account simply moves to the free plan and your data stays put.

2. Who provides billing, and its current status

Billing is provided by PingStuff (operated by 9950931 Canada Inc., carrying on business as PingStuff.com, 2240 University Ave E., Waterloo, Ontario N2K 0A9, Canada). These Trial & Billing Terms supplement our Terms of Service; where the two conflict about trials or billing, these terms apply.

Paid billing is currently rolling out and is not yet active — no one can be charged today. The service is in a pre-launch beta. These terms describe how billing works once it is available; sections below use “when available” where a feature is not yet live.

3. The free instant check

Anyone can run a free instant website health check at pingstuff.com without creating an account and without providing any payment information. Free checks are rate-limited and their results are automatically deleted after 7 days (see the Privacy Policy).

4. The 30-day trial — no card, no auto-charge

Your 30-day trial with full features (currently on up to three monitors) starts when you create your first monitor — not at signup, so you can create an account and look around without the trial clock running. Two things make it different from most trials, and we want them on the record:

  • No payment method is required to start. We do not ask for a card, and we do not store one.
  • Nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends. There is no “forgot to cancel” charge — a charge is technically impossible because no payment method exists on your account unless you actively subscribe.

5. When your trial ends

At the end of the 30 days you choose one of two paths:

  • Subscribe — pick a paid plan and pay through Stripe Checkout (when billing is available).
  • Do nothing — your account moves to the free plan. One monitor stays active automatically on free-plan limits, and any extra monitors are paused, not deleted (the free plan allows up to three active monitors — you can resume paused ones yourself up to that cap). Nothing is deleted — your monitors, history and settings remain, and upgrading later brings paused monitors back.

6. Plans and prices

Current plans and prices are shown on the pricing page, which governs if this summary ever falls out of date. As of the date above:

  • Free — $0. Up to three monitors with email outage and recovery alerts.
  • Monitor — USD $17 per monitored site, per month. Adds SMS alerts when that feature is available (currently rolling out).
  • Agency — USD $49 per month, flat. Covers up to 15 monitored sites on one subscription, including white-label shared reports. Not priced per site.

All prices are stated and charged in US dollars (USD) unless the checkout page says otherwise.

Each plan’s exact features and limits are listed on the pricing page. Features marked “rolling out” are not yet live; you should not subscribe for a rolling-out feature alone.

7. What you are billed for

The Monitor plan is billed per monitored server (monitor), per month. Your billable quantity is the number of active monitors in your account, with a minimum of one while your subscription remains active. The Agency plan is a single flat monthly price regardless of how many sites you monitor within its cap — the per-monitor rules below do not apply to it:

  • Adding a monitor increases the quantity; mid-cycle changes may be prorated.
  • Pausing or deleting a monitor reduces the quantity your next invoice is based on. Because an active subscription always includes at least one server slot, if you pause or delete all of your monitors you will still be billed for one monitor until you cancel your subscription through the billing portal.

8. How payment works

All payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor, through Stripe Checkout. We never see and never store your card number — payment details go directly to Stripe. Our systems store your subscription’s status, quantity, billing period and plan, your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and the raw billing event records Stripe sends us — kept so each payment event is processed exactly once and for audit purposes; those records can include the billing name, email address and country you give Stripe at checkout. No charge ever occurs outside Stripe Checkout: there is no card form on our site, and we will never ask for card details by email, text or phone.

Invoices and receipts are available through the Stripe customer portal, reachable from your billing page at /app/billing.

9. Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, we don’t cut you off abruptly:

  • We email you reminders so you can update your payment method.
  • You get a grace period of roughly 10 days while we retry.
  • If payment still hasn’t succeeded after the grace period, monitoring pauses — your data stays intact. Nothing is deleted.
  • Fixing the payment resumes monitoring immediately.

10. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal. Your paid service continues to the end of the period you already paid for; after that your account moves to the free plan — one monitor stays active, extras are paused, and nothing is deleted. If you want your data gone as well, account deletion and data export are separate, self-serve features described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Price changes

Prices can change. If a price change affects an existing subscription, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before the new price applies, so you can cancel first if you don’t agree.

12. Refunds

If you believe you’ve been charged in error, or you want to ask about a refund, contact us and we’ll look at it — email support@pingstuff.com or use the contact form at pingstuff.com/contact (the most reliable channel while our mailboxes are being set up). Remember that no charge can occur outside Stripe Checkout, and trials never convert into charges automatically.

13. Taxes

Prices may not include applicable taxes (such as sales tax, GST/HST or VAT). Where taxes apply, they are calculated and shown at checkout or on your invoice.

14. Changes to these terms and contact

We may update these terms — for example when billing moves from rolling-out to live. The “last updated” date at the top will change when we do, and material changes will be communicated to account holders. These terms are governed by the law of Ontario, Canada, as set out in the Terms of Service. Billing questions: email support@pingstuff.com or — most reliable today — the contact form at pingstuff.com/contact.
