PingStuff launches SMS outage alerts for Canadian businesses

What changed

Until now, PingStuff alerted by email only. Text alerts are live as of 3 August 2026 for Canadian mobile numbers, sent from a Canadian phone number over a Canadian carrier route. Delivery is powered by AIUCAAS, a Canadian communications platform, on a Fibernetics route. Email alerts continue to work for every account on every plan, including the free tier.

Alerts are deliberately short and written in ordinary language rather than status codes. A typical outage text reads: “PingStuff: My Store (mystore.com) appears to be down. We'll text you when it recovers. Reply STOP to opt out.” The full explanation — what failed, at which stage, and what to do about it — is in the matching email and incident report.

Why a Canadian number

Cross-border application-to-person text messaging is filtered aggressively by carriers, and blocked messages frequently fail without producing a visible error. For a monitoring product that is the worst possible failure: the service reports the alert as sent, and the customer's phone never rings.

Sending to Canadian mobiles from a Canadian number on a route registered for that traffic avoids that class of silent failure. It also means the sending infrastructure sits under Canadian telecom regulation alongside the company operating it.

Consent, STOP and what PingStuff will not do

• Verified numbers only. Every mobile number is confirmed with a one-time code before it can receive an alert. Consent is recorded with its source and timestamp.
• STOP works immediately and unsubscribes that number from all PingStuff texts — not just one website — and sends a confirmation. Replying START resubscribes, and HELP returns a message identifying the service and how to reach us.
• No marketing texts exist in the product. Agreeing to outage alerts is not agreeing to promotions, and PingStuff has no mechanism to send them.

What is not live yet

PingStuff publishes what is not finished alongside what is. Text alerts to numbers outside Canada are not supported — United States carrier registration is a separate process that has not been completed — and those accounts receive every alert by email instead. Two-way SMS commands (replying to ask for status) are not available. Multi-region checking from more than one location is still rolling out; checks currently run from a single vantage point, and the product says so wherever it matters.
